Stirling is Your Calaveras Pet of the Week!

San Andreas… Meet Stirling, a handsome shorthaired solid gray adult. A big boy weighing in at a little over 14 pounds, Stirling has a calm, quiet personality. He is friendly but does not approach you when you enter his communal room, waiting instead for you to make the first move. Stirling has one place in his communal room that is “his spot” and would likely enjoy having a special place of his own in his new home where he could feel safe and secure. Stirling was one of a group of abandoned cats brought to the shelter and has a best buddy who is always by his side. We feel this gentle soul would do well in a calm, adult household with his pal or another friendly adult feline for companionship.

As with all cats available for adoption, Stirling is up-to-date on his routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. Already neutered, he is able to go home with you today.

Come visit Stirling, impound no. AO51668, along with other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this kitty, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy.co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Stirling’s impound number when making inquiries.

Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes during this pandemic. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are very much needed as well. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would appreciate your help caring for shelter animals or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.
Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!

When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
