San Andreas, CA… Calling all tortie aficionados! Meet Bai, a beautiful tortoiseshell cat with big golden eyes and a super-silky coat. Ten years young and very healthy, Bai looks and acts like a much younger kitty. She is at the shelter only because her caregiver passed away and relatives were unable to give her a home. Bai is very friendly and loves to have her belly rubbed, showing her appreciation by licking your hand. A super snuggler, this sweet girl has a calm, quiet personality and is very gentle, keeping her claws in at all times. She currently lives in a communal room and gets along with other friendly felines. We feel she would do well with most any person or family who could provide her with lots of love and attention. Bai will need to remain an indoors only cat, though, as she has always been inside.
As with all cats available for adoption, Bai is up-to-date on her routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. Already spayed, she is able to go home with you today!
Come visit Bai, impound no. AO51875, along with other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this kitty, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy.co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Bai’s impound number when making inquiries.
Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes during this pandemic. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.
Volunteers are very much needed as well. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would value your help caring for shelter animals or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.
Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
