Monitor Pass Scheduled to Close Saturday Ahead of Incoming Storm

Alpine County – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) plans to close Monitor Pass on State Route 89 at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020, due to an incoming storm to protect public safety. There is no estimated time of opening the pass.

Ebbetts Pass/Route 4 andSonora Pass/Route 108 remain closed due to winter conditions and there is no estimated opening date for those routes at this time. Route 120/Tioga Road in Yosemite National Park is closed for the season. Motorists should expect the worst conditions and be prepared when traveling in areas subject to hazardous conditions. All vehicles, including those with fourwheel drive or snow tires should, additionally, carry chains when traveling during snowy weather.
