Sonora, CA…A Tuolumne County deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a motorcycle early this morning. Brian Reynolds of Placerville evaded deputies and led a short pursuit into a neighborhood on Cavalieri Road, where he ditched his motorcycle in some bushes. To avoid capture, Reynolds attempted to force his way into a Sonora home occupied by James St. Clair.
While acting in self-defense the home owner shot Reynolds in the wrist with a 9mm pistol. Reynolds was flown to a Modesto hospital where he was treated for his injury and later booked into the jail.
Although St. Clair was protecting himself it turns out he is a felon. As such he is prohibited from possessing a firearm and was subsequently arrested.
The case will be referred to the district attorney’s office at the completion of the investigation.
