Calaveras County, CA… The first ever ‘Keep the Cheer Here” countywide Christmas decorating contest is under way and business owners and residents are encouraged to enter by the Friday, Dec. 18, 2020 deadline.
“Calaveras families and businesses are redefining what it means to celebrate during the holidays this year,” said sponsor Calaveras County Chamber CEO Morgan Gace, “and if you like to express your cheer through holiday decor this is the event for you!”
Those homes and businesses who enter will be put on an inter-active map on the Chamber webpage which county residents and visitors alike can access for an evening of touring and memory-making. “This is a way for every resident of Calaveras County, and even visitors, to safely experience the magic of Christmas and Calaveras,” said Gace.
Businesses who enter will receive a promo video, signage and goodies, their logo on the live map, logo and business weblink on the Participants’ page, and increased traffic past their business. Residents receive signage, goodies and placement on the live map.
“Keep the Cheer Here is meant to help attract more traffic to our Calaveras businesses, and also allow people to get out in a COVID-safe way to experience the magic of the season,” Gace said. “We can see traditions and memories being made when families view the lights between Dec. 18 through the 25th.”
Prizes of Calaveras’ tasty treasures, trophies and bragging rights will be handed out for the following categories: The Clark Griswold Trophy (most lights), Buddy the Elf Trophy (best in cheer and showmanship), Spirit of Calaveras Trophy (most creative nod to our county), and the People’s Choice Trophy (winner decided by the public).
