Angels Camp, CA…Betty G Zimmerman from Murphys was her Pontiac northbound on Vallecito Road, south of State Route 4 at an unknown speed. A Murphys man was driving his Chevy pickup southbound on Vallecito Road, south of State Route 4 at an unknown speed. For an unknown reason, she allowed her vehicle to cross the solid double yellow lines and enter the southbound lane. He was unable to avoid a collision and both vehicles struck head-on. Both vehicles came to rest in the roadway. Unfortunately, Betty Zimmerman sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision. He was transported by life flight helicopter for treatment of major injuries.

Drugs/Alcohol use are not suspected in this collision.

The roadway was closed for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes to facilitate patient care and scene investigation.
