Winter Storm Warning in Effect, Winter Storm Expected Today and Tonight

Arnold, CA…The National Weather Service in Sacramento says…Winter Storm Expected Today and Tonight…A strong Pacific storm will bring periods of heavy snow and strong winds across the mountains of western Plumas County and the West Slope of the Sierra Nevada today and into tonight. The heaviest snow is expected from late Monday morning and into the early evening for elevations above 5500 feet. Light accumulations are possible down to 5000 feet. Hazardous mountain travel conditions are anticipated. If traveling in the mountains, carry chains, extra warm clothing and food, and be prepared for significant travel delays. Another winter storm is possible mid-week which could also impact mountain travel.

ABOVE 5500 FEET…

* WHAT…Periods of heavy snow and strong winds are expected.
Expect very difficult travel conditions with white out
conditions at times, mainly from late this morning and into this
evening. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches expected at
lower elevations, and 12 to 18 inches with localized amounts up
to 2 feet expected at higher elevations, above 6500 feet.

Northern Sierra Nevada.

* WHEN…Through 4 AM Tuesday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Be prepared for significant reductions in
visibility at times. Damage to trees and power lines is
possible.
