Murphys, CA…Vicki Sue (Shively) Morrisroe, 66, passed away on Oct. 5, 2015, at a hospital in Folsom, Calif., after a long illness. Born on Feb. 23, 1949, in Atlanta, Ga., Vicki spent her childhood moving among Air Force bases in Japan, Michigan and Nebraska before her family settled in Fair Oaks, Calif., in 1963. She graduated from Del Campo High School in 1967 and married Edward Morrisroe in 1969, after which they moved to Tuolumne County, Douglas Flat and then Murphys. She has lived in the same house in Murphys since 1978.
Vicki was beloved by generations of students at Michelson Elementary, where she worked as a classified aide from 1985 to November 2014, and was known affectionately as “Miss Moe.” Prior to that, she volunteered at Michelson for several years. It meant the world to her to help children get a good start in life, particularly those who had difficult paths.
Vicki was an avid sports fan and loved her Sacramento Kings, Oakland A’s and Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, and the Oregon Ducks, and she particularly enjoyed NASCAR. She was a voracious reader, filling her home with books. She loved helping plants grow, spending time with her cats, and watching wildlife.
She is survived by two sons, Steven Morrisroe and Dennis Morrisroe of Vancouver, Wash., and a daughter, Carolyn Morrisroe, of Highlands, N.C. She is also survived by brother Michael Scott Shively, three nieces and one nephew. Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, George Knox Shively and Mary Jane Shively, her sister, Christine Shively, and an infant son, David Patrick.
She will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
At Vicki’s request, no services will be held, but a gathering of family and friends may be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest at the Buena Vista Cemetery in Murphys, Calif
