West Point, CA…On Friday, October 23, 2020, deputies responded to and began investigating a missing persons report. The report was filed by the missing person’s mother who was concerned because her daughter had missed an important court date. At this time, deputies were able to ascertain that the missing person was last in the area of West Point CA through cellular phone data. The Investigations Bureau took over the investigation and has continuously followed investigative leads. During the course of this investigation, members of the Amador County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Bureau and Search and Rescue Team searched multiple areas and gathered evidence from several locations in and around West Point.
On Saturday, January 16, 2021, Amador County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Bureau and Crime Scene Technicians searched an area near West Point with the assistance of Amador County Search and Rescue, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Detectives, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, Placer County Sheriff’s Office, Placer County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, cadaver dog teams from C.A.R.D.A., and W.O.O.F. Search Dog teams. Searchers located human remains along with other evidence during their search. The Investigations Bureau and Crime Scene Technicians worked through the weekend collecting evidence.
The remains have been identified through rapid D.N.A. testing as 27 year old Pine Grove resident Savana Lee Burger, the subject of the missing persons report in October.
The Investigations Bureau obtained an arrest warrant on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. On Wednesday, January 20, 2021, the Amador County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. team with the assistance of Patrol and Investigations personnel attempted to serve an arrest warrant on Climax Road near Pioneer Drive but did not locate the suspect.
At this time the Amador County Sheriff’s Office is actively looking for 44 year old Pine Grove resident Jerry Lee Adams Jr. for the murder of Savana Lee Burger.
