San Andreas, CA…Calaveras Public Works Department wants to inform the public of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) winter storm warning which will impact county roads from this afternoon through 2:00 AM Friday, January 29, 2021.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) this storm is predicted to be a dangerous winter storm, which will bring heavy snow and powerful winds this evening into early Friday. Significant snow amounts are forecasted in the Northern Sierra, especially tonight through tomorrow. Strong winds and heavy snow may cause downed trees and power lines. Travel may be extremely difficult to impossible at times. Travel is not advised. If you risk travel, especially over the Sierra, be prepared for road closures, chain controls, and near zero visibilities.
Impacts will include:
1. Major travel delays
2. Chain controls and possible road closures
3. Near white out conditions at times
4. Travel is highly discouraged
