Tuolumne Sheriff’s Dept Continues to Battle Covid at New Jail

Sonora, CA…The Latest…”We are actively working with Tuolumne County Public Health on the investigation, including isolation, quarantine, and testing protocols according to CDC, CDPH, and Health Officer guidance. No new cases have been reported today. In response to yesterday’s positive cases, we have implemented the following:

• Inmates will remain quarantined in their respective cohorts to reduce exposure.
• All positive cases have been placed in isolation.
• Increased testing will be facilitated by Tuolumne County Public Health.
• A third-party medical company has been brought in to monitor and provide necessary treatment for inmates displaying symptoms.
• Inspection of facilities by Public Health to ensure protocols are in accordance with the Health Officer’s recommendations.

Additionally, we are opening extra lines of communication with members of the public. Anyone with concerns related to COVID-19 measures being taken inside our facilities is encouraged to contact Public Information Officer Nicco Sandelin at (209)533-5857.

If you are a family member requesting contact with an inmate, contact Sergeant Chris Hurtado at (209)533-7201 and he will facilitate connecting you. Please know inmate communication is optional and our staff will not mandate an inmate to respond to your request.
