Amador County, CA…Caltrans is advising fresh powder and football enthusiasts to expect heavy traffic and major travel delays on major and secondary highways in the Sierra region during Super Bowl weekend.
Motorists should be prepared to be turned around when parking lots reach capacity and are reminded that snow play is not permitted in Safety Roadside Rest Areas (SRRAs) or alongside highways for the safety of the public and other motorists. Drivers parked alongside highways and in non-designated areas or found parked illegally may be cited or towed for public safety.
Permits are required for each vehicle parked at a SNO-PARK site. For information, click here or visit http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1233.
Caltrans recognizes the beauty of the Sierra Nevada and welcomes visitors to the area. The department’s priority is keeping California state highways clear and safe for all motorists.
