Oliver is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week!

San Andreas, CA… Meet Oliver, a shorthaired brown tabby adult with an A+ personality. Super friendly and affectionate, Oliver has yet to meet a human he didn’t like. Although estimated to be five years old, Oliver still has a lot of kitten playfulness and enjoys chasing anything that moves, especially his “feather-on-a-string” toy. Oliver arrived at the shelter as a stray and only has one eye. Examined by a veterinarian who believes his injury happened long ago, it has healed thoroughly with no further medical attention necessary. Due to his limited vision, Oliver would do best as an indoor kitty though in a lively household where he can receive the love and attention he deserves. He would make a terrific family pet, too, since he is especially good with children.

As with all cats available for adoption, Oliver is up-to-date on his routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. Already neutered, he is able to go home with you today!

Come visit Oliver, impound no. AO52139, along with other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this kitty, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy.co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Oliver’s impound number when making inquiries.

Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time in order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes during this pandemic. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are very much needed as well. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would value your help caring for shelter animals or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!

When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
