Copperopolis, CA…The sad notifications have been made and the San Andreas CHP Office has updated their release…On February 10, 2021, at approximately 5:51 p.m., a San Andreas Area CHP officer was traveling on eastbound State Route 4, east of Horseshoe Road, near Copperopolis. The officer observed a motorcycle that was traveling westbound, in the opposite direction at an extremely high rate of speed. As the motorcycle passed, the officer made a U-turn in an attempt to make an enforcement stop on the motorcycle. The officer lost sight of the motorcycle.

The officer subsequently observed a cloud of dust as he rounded a curve in the roadway and located the motorcycle which had left the roadway and was involved in a solo-vehicle collision. The officer stopped at the scene and located the driver who had sustained fatal injuries as a result of this collision.
