Bear Valley, CA…This season’s Rasmussen Classic Race was held on Saturday and Sunday February 6 & 7. Originally, scheduled for January 9 & 10 as two SL races the event was postponed until after January 25 due to Far West Division of US Ski & Snowboard guidelines to comply with various State and County restrictions. With the race season compressed due to the temporary moratorium, the Central Series GS race usually held in February was cancelled. This provided the opportunity to change the Rasmussen Classic to include one SL and one GS.
The weather and the snow conditions were ideal for a racing weekend. Nearly 80 competitors registered for the 2 day event, surpassing last year’s participation and frankly all expectations give the Covid-19 situation. In addition the Bear Valley’s racers, athletes came from Dodge Ridge, Yosemite Winter Club, China Peak and Kirkwood. Ladies and Men competitors comprised 5 age categories with top three places being awarded in each. Complete Results can be viewed here.
In addition, the Rasmussen Classic awards the U14 Ladies and U14 Mens competitors with a special award for the fastest combined time from both days. This season’s winners are Isabella Gluchowski of Bear Valley and Bobby Klaje of Dodge Ridge.
