Sonora, CA…Thursday afternoon, our office received a concerning report of a potential sexual assault which had just occurred. With information provided by the reporting person, our office was able to locate the victim with GPS tracking. Present with the victim when deputies made contact was 45-year-old Chad Vanhulzen of Sonora.

Due to the initial report received, Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Detectives were contacted and responded to the scene. As a result of the investigation, Chad was arrested for felony sex crimes, kidnapping, false imprisonment and attempting to dissuade a victim from reporting. The victim and Chad had reportedly met on a dating website just a few days prior and just met in person for the first time the evening before the incident.

Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and case sensitive details, no further information can be released at this time.
