San Andreas, CA…On February 26th and March 2nd, 2021, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served three unrelated search warrants for illegal marijuana cultivation. On February 26th, a search warrant was served at a residence located in the 2000 block of Moro Road in San Andreas. The residence had been converted into an indoor marijuana cultivation site. Deputies located and seized 741 growing marijuana plants and 52 pounds of processed marijuana. The estimated value of the seized marijuana exceeds $549,250. Additionally, Deputies located and seized 5 firearms and evidence of marijuana sales. Two suspects were arrested at the scene.
Calaveras County Code Enforcement Officers were called to the scene and “red tagged” the residence due to electrical hazards, substandard conditions, and unpermitted additions to the residence.
Man Yee Chan, age 44 of San Francisco, and Wei Ren Huang, age 48 of San Andreas, were placed under arrest on charges of 11358 H&S Illegal Marijuana Cultivation, 11359 H&S Possession of Marijuana for Sale, 11366 H&S Maintaining a Premises for Sales of a Controlled Substance, and 182 (A)(1) PC Conspiracy to Commit Crime.
On March 2nd, two unrelated search warrants were served at two locations. The first warrant was served at a residence located in the 5000 block of McCauley Road in Valley Springs. The residence and a detached metal shop had been converted into indoor marijuana cultivation sites. Deputies located and seized 2,511 growing marijuana plants and 222 pounds of processed marijuana. The estimated value of the seized marijuana exceeds $1,632,150.
Additionally, evidence of marijuana sales was located and seized. One suspect was arrested at the scene.
Calaveras County Code Enforcement Officers “red tagged” the residence due to black mold growth, electrical hazards, substandard conditions, and unpermitted modifications within the residence.
Yen Hsiang Yang, age 30 of Valley Springs, was placed under arrest and booked into the Calaveras County Jail on charges of 11358 H&S Illegal Marijuana Cultivation, 11359 H&S Possession of Marijuana for Sale, and 11366 H&S Maintaining a Premises for Sales of a Controlled Substance.
On March 2nd, the second search warrant was served at a residence located in the 5000 block of Southworth Road in Burson. Deputies seized 2,298 growing marijuana plants and one firearm. The estimated value of the seized marijuana exceeds 1,493,700. The marijuana was being cultivated in a large metal shop structure and inside the residence. Both buildings had been converted for indoor marijuana cultivation purposes. Two suspects were arrested at the scene.
Jose Feliciano Escarcega-Barajas, age 33 of Burson, and Rene Redondo-Ortiz, age 22 of Burson, were booked into the Calaveras County Jail on charges of 11358 H&S Illegal Marijuana Cultivation, 11359 H&S Possession of Marijuana for Sale, 11366 H&S Maintaining a Premises for Sales of a Controlled Substance, and 182 (A)(1) PC Conspiracy to Commit Crime.
The investigations regarding these three illegal marijuana cultivation sites is ongoing.
