Amador County COVID-19 Update

Amador County, CA – Amador County Public Health reports 17 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total laboratory confirmed case count to 1,615 since last Tuesday’s update. The new cases include 6 males and 11 females, 1 child under the age of 18, 9 aged 18-49, 6 aged 50-64, 1 over 65 years of age; 8 residing in Ione, 3 living in Jackson, 3 in Pioneer, and 3 residing Sutter Creek/Amador City. Four Amador residents are currently hospitalized.

Amador County Public Health vaccination clinics have expanded to include residents 65 years of age and above, in addition to health care workers, first responders, educators, community outreach workers, agriculture workers, grocery store workers, restaurant and food service workers, caregivers and childcare providers. As more vaccine arrives Public Health is scheduling vaccine clinics on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. These clinics are by appointment only. Public Health is administering COVID-19 vaccine as quickly as supply is issued from the state. Over 11,500 doses have been administered in Amador to-date.

Tomorrow’s second dose clinic, originally scheduled at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, has been relocated due to a winter storm system impacting Amador County. The new location is the Health and Human Services building located at 10877 Conductor Blvd Sutter Creek, CA 95685. Residents in the upper elevations (Pine Grove and above) are encouraged to reschedule their appointment to another clinic. An upcountry clinic will be offered at the Veterans Hall in Pioneer on March 17, 2020. OptumServe COVID-19 testing will not be available on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

Jackson CVS, Safeway Pharmacy, Sutter Amador, and WellSpace are also offering COVID-19 vaccine by appointment. CVS vaccine appointments are scheduled via their CVS COVID-19 Vaccine Website. Safeway appointments are scheduled via their Safeway Pharmacy online appointment system. Residents are also encouraged to reach out to their health care provider to inquire if vaccine is available within the health care system. Public Health will continue to operate county-administered points-of-distribution (PODs) as more vaccine becomes available.

No-cost community COVID-19 nasal swab testing is offered by OptumServe on Mondays, Wednesdays (except tomorrow March 10th), and Saturdays at the Health and Human Services building rear parking lot located at 10877 Conductor Blvd, Sutter Creek, CA 95685. Drop-in testing is available. Staff will assist with registration on-site. Drive around to the rear entrance of the building, park in the area designated by red cones, and remain in your vehicle. Testing staff will approach the vehicle with instructions. Online registration may be accessed at https://lhi.care/covidtesting. Those without internet access may register by calling 1-888-634-1123. Amador remains in the purple tier on California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy. Moving to less restrictive tiers is linked to decreased COVID-19 activity in our community. Amador residents may assist in demonstrating this to the state by continuing to test to show decreased activity.
