Angels Camp City Councilman Jeremy Leonard Resigns

Angels Camp, CA…The City of Angels announces the resignation of Councilman Jeremy Leonard from the Angels Camp City Council effective May 13, 2021. Councilman Leonard was elected on November 3, 2020. He has been a lifetime City resident and in his short tenure as Councilman proudly facilitated a community clean-up day and lead several construction projects at the Angels Camp Museum. His hard work and grit were welcomed additions and appreciated by Staff.

While Councilman Leonard has valued his time on the Council, work and housing relocation have taken him outside of the City limits. On behalf of the Council and Staff, Mayor Broglio wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Jeremy for his passion and commitment to place. “We recognize that stepping down was a difficult decision and we are sad to lose a longtime City resident and hardworking team member.”

The City Council must, within sixty (60) days of the Vacancy, either fill the Vacancy by appointment or by calling a special election (the “Special Election”).’ Accordingly, the City Council has until July 12, 2021 to fill the Vacancy by appointment or call the Special Election.

The City Council will consider the options to fill the vacancy at the regular meeting of May 18, 2021.
