Sonora, CA… John W. Sowell 12/27/1944 – 5/21/2021. John W. Sowell was born in Concord, CA on December 27, 1944 and passed away in Sonora, CA on May 21, 2021 at the age of 76.

John was raised in Concord and Grass Valley and graduated from Berkeley High School Class of 1963 where he belonged and was active in the Explorers. He then attended San Jose State University, and in 1972 in Berkeley, his son John Jr. was born. He went on to work for Del Monte in the Philippines for 12 years, where he adopted Liana (Sowell) Reich in 1986. Upon returning to the U.S., he bought the Crystal Falls Mini Mart in October of 1988 where he continued as owner and operator until present.

On July 28, 1995, he married his love, Patricia (Gore) Sowell at Sardine Lake in the woodland paradise of Sierra City, CA. John had a passion for traveling and exploring, especially via horseback, motorcycles, jeeps, and RVs.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Country Cowboy Church, 14535 Peaceful Valley Road, Sonora, CA 95370, with food and reception to follow the inside presentations.
