Washington, D.C…Today, on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement condemning their gruesome legacy and highlighting the importance of holding them accountable:
“From Tiananmen Square to Hong Kong to the camps in Xinjiang to the coronavirus cover up, the past 100 years of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) control has been marked by a callous disregard to human rights and individual liberties, and its gruesome legacy can be described only as evil. It proves that communism is only ever maintained by killing millions and waging an endless war against those who wish to live in freedom.
“We should pause to recognize the victims of Chinese communist rule, including the 600,000 Americans who died from COVID-19, and demand justice and transparency on their behalf. Although the Biden administration has willingly given away American leverage in discovering the origins of COVID-19, we cannot allow China’s wrongdoing to go unchecked.
“Building on the work from the China Task Force that I stood up last year, I’ve introduced an eight-pillar framework to hold China accountable. The CCP cannot be allowed to harm Americans without consequences, and House Republicans will ensure there is the accountability that all Americans deserve.”
