Cleopatra is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week

San Andreas, CA…Meet Cleopatra, a long-haired tortie with a royal demeanor and attitude to match. At one time, this estimated to be 10-year-old beauty was someone’s pampered pet as she arrived at the shelter wearing a sparkly black and pink collar. She was picked up as a neighborhood stray, though, and sadly no one has come looking for her. Friendly yet quiet and calm, Miss Cleo likes to survey her surroundings from atop her overstuffed, plump pillow. She enjoys gentle petting anytime, the occasional cat treat and tolerates having her back and chest brushed when she’s feeling up to the task. Regal in both looks and personality, Cleopatra would likely do best in an adult household where she could be queen of the realm.

As with all cats available for adoption, Cleopatra is up to date on her routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. We’re also confident she has been spayed but will be confirmed by a vet before she is adopted.

Come visit Cleopatra, impound no. AO52880 along with other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this kitty, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy@co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Cleopatra’s impound number when making inquiries.

Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time for COVID precautions. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are very much needed as well. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would value your help caring for shelter animals or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity,
the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered is $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
