Twyla is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week

San Andreas, CA…Meet Twyla, a diminutive shorthaired light gray tabby young adult. Super-sweet and affectionate, Twyla adores attention and especially being cuddled in your arms or purring in your lap. This green-eyed beauty loves to explore and still has more than a bit of kitten playfulness in her. Twyla was a teenage mom and took very good care of her babies at the shelter. Now that her kittens have all been adopted, it would be wonderful for Twyla to find a loving, caring home of her own. Perhaps with you?

As with all cats available for adoption, Twyla is up to date on her routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. Ideally, she should be adopted as an only cat or into a household with another feline friendly one, so this little darling may receive some long overdue “me time.” Already spayed, Twyla can go home with you today!

Come visit Twyla, impound no. AO52723 along with other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this kitty, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy@co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Twyla’s impound number when making inquiries.

Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time for COVID precautions. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are very much needed as well. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would value your help caring for shelter animals or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity,
the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered is $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
