Minor Injuries to San Andreas CHP Officer in Collision

San Andreas, CA…Ames was stopped at the posted stop sign, facing east on Magers Way, waiting to turn left onto northbound SR-49. CHP Officer Cooper was traveling south on SR-49 north of Magers Way at 55 miles per hour in a marked patrol vehicle. Ames drove forward and entered the traffic lane, directly into the path of the CHP vehicle. The Officer applied applied the brakes and turned to the left to avoid a collision. Officer Cooper was unable to avoid a collision and the front of the Tahoe impacted the left side of the Hyundai Elantra driven by Ames. The Tahoe continued to the south and left the roadway, impacting a fence.

Both vehicles came to rest off of the roadway. Responding units established one-way traffic control at the scene for scene investigation and patient care.

Officer Cooper sustained minor injuries and was treated and released.
Ms. Ames sustained minor injuries and was released at the scene.

No drugs or alcohol are suspected in this collision.
