Traffic Update….Hwy 108 Will Close During Blasting Work for Peaceful Oak Project

Sonora, CA…The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform intermittent full closures of State Route 108 (SR-108) near Sonora as part of the Peaceful Oak Project. To ensure the safety of maintenance crews and the motoring public, Caltrans will require intermittent full closures of SR-108 as crews will be performing blasting work on Tuesday, September, 21, 2021, scheduled for late morning and early afternoon; blasting is expected to end by Tuesday afternoon.

State Route 108 will be closed just east of Peaceful Oak Road, between Hess Avenue and Mono Way during these closures.

Motorists should expect up to 15-minute delays. Alternate routes should be taken whenever possible.
Caltrans will utilize flaggers, along with overhead and changeable message signs, alerting motorists to the work to be done.

When completed, motorists will have a new eastbound on-ramp and westbound off- ramp on State Route 108 as part of the East Sonora Bypass.
