Rail Road Flat, CA…On September 22, 2021, at about 12:30 PM a deputy observed a gray 2004 Dodge Ram pickup traveling westbound on Ridge Rd., Rail Road Flat. The deputy recognized the driver of the vehicle to be suspect Jacob Aaron Main (43 years old from Railroad Flat). The deputy was aware that Main had a valid felony warrant for his arrest issued from the Calaveras County Superior Court for violation of probation.
The deputy activated his emergency lighting (red and blue lights) and siren to conduct a vehicle enforcement stop. Main failed to yield and accelerated in an attempt to evade arrest. The deputy pursued Main north on Railroad Flat Road and requested assistance from other Calaveras County deputies and California Highway Patrol officers in the
area.
During the pursuit, Main accelerated to speeds over 65 mph and crossed over the center double yellow line multiple times while travelling across several roadways in the Railroad Flat area. While traveling north on Railroad Flat Road near Noble Road, the vehicle came to a stop while blocking the opposing lane. Main jumped out of the driver’s door and ran down an extremely steep embankment. As he exited the vehicle Main allowed his vehicle to roll back into the deputy’s patrol vehicle. Due to the extremely steep hillside and thick brush, the deputy lost sight of Main after a lengthy foot pursuit. Additional deputies, California Highway Patrol Officers, Calaveras Probation Officers and Cal Fire Prevention Officers arrived on the scene to assist. A perimeter was set up and air assets from the California Highway Patrol began searching the area for Main. Deputies were unable to locate Main after an extensive search.
Deputies conducted a search of the vehicle Main was driving. While searching, deputies located approximately 60 grams of methamphetamine, 29 grams of heroin, hypodermic needles, and a loaded 9 mm handgun. Main is prohibited from possessing firearms. A record check of the vehicle revealed it was reported stolen (5-16-21) from San Andreas.
In addition to his existing warrants the Sheriff’s Office is submitting additional charges for prosecution and request of an arrest warrant for this case. New charges include 2800.2CVC evading a peace officer with disregard for public safety (Felony), 11351H&S possession of narcotics for sale (Felony), 11352 H&S transportation of narcotics (Felony), 29800(a) CVC prohibited person in possession of a firearm (Felony), 3035(a) PC prohibited person in possession of ammunition (Felony) and 496D(A) PC possession of a stolen vehicle (Felony).
