Jackson, CA…11/06/2021, at approximately 1626 hours, CHP Stockton Communications Center received reports of a multiple vehicle traffic collision on State Route 16, west of Latrobe Road, within unincorporated Amador County. Several agencies including CHP-Amador, CALFIRE, Amador Fire, and the Amador County Sheriff Department responded to the collision. Upon arrival of emergency responders, three involved vehicles were located at the collision scene.
It was determined a 25 year old female from Sacramento was driving her 2006 Chevrolet Impala westbound on SR-16, approaching an eastbound 2019 GMC Yukon driven by a 35 year old female from Sutter Creek, followed by her husband, a 40 year old Male from Sutter Creek, driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. For an unknown reason, the 25 year old female allowed her Chevrolet Impala to travel to the right off of the paved roadway, and onto the gravel shoulder. The 25 year old female abruptly turned her Chevrolet Impala to the left in an attempt to re-enter the paved portion of the roadway, which caused the vehicle to veer out of control towards the opposing (eastbound) traffic lane. The front of the Chevrolet Impala traveled into the eastbound traffic lane, and the front of the Chevrolet Impala collided with the left side of the GMC Yukon. This collision between the Chevrolet Impala and GMC Yukon caused the GMC Yukon to veer off the south roadway edge and roll-over several times, before coming to rest on its wheels.
The Chevrolet Impala continued into the eastbound traffic lane, and the rear of the Chevolet Impala collided with the front of the Chevrolet Silverado. The collision between the Chevrolet Impala and Chevrolet Silverado caused both vehicles to veer off the roadway, and onto the south shoulder. All involved vehicles sustained major damage.
The 25 year old female driver of the Chevrolet Impala was located inside the vehicle with severe injuries, and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the collision scene by medical personnel. The 35 year old female driver of the GMC Yukon, the 40 year old male driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, and their children were evaluated by medical personnel for minor injuries and released from the collision scene.
Alcohol and drug use is not suspected in any of the three involved drivers, however the investigation is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to contact the Amador CHP office at 209-223-4890.
