Stockton Man Dies in Fatal Hwy 49 Collision

Jackson, CA…A Stockton man was driving a Honda southbound on SR-49 north of Old Hwy 49, at a high rate of speed. A Pine Grove woman was driving her Toyota northbound on SR-49 north of Old Hwy 49, at a stated speed of 45-50 mph. The Honda driver allowed his vehicle to drift off the west roadway edge of SR-49. He then abruptly steered it to the left, across the double yellow lines, into the Toyota’s direct path of travel. She applied the Toyota’s brakes but was unable to avoid a collision with the Honda.

The front end of the Toyota struck the right rear of the Honda. The impact caused the Stockton man to be ejected from his vehicle, and for it to spin out of control off the east roadway edge of SR-49, where the Honda struck a tree.

The Stockton man sustained fatal injuries from this collision. The Pine Grove woman sustained minor injuries from this collision.

This collision is still pending further investigation.
