Hey Good People!! Pow Pow Pow & 149 Inches of Pure Mountain Fun So Far at Bear Valley!

Hey Good People! Mattly’s weather forecast for Sunday. 16″ of new snow has fallen over night for a 24hr total of 20″ and currently 55″ for the storm total. Today’s weather, we expect heavy snowfall with 8-12″ looking to fall during the day before things increase for some possible impressive overnight totals. Tonight 22-28″ is on tap with 18-24″ slated for Monday.

Winds will also give way to lots of snow redistribution as they will continue to average in the upper 20’s and gusting into the 40’s and mainly out of the SW. Wind chill factors of below 0F and negative digits are to be expected today and tomorrow. The storm is also bringing with it very cold air from the Gulf of AK which will bring snow levels down to the 2500′ elevation range late Sunday evening into Monday and then dropping further down to the 500′ range and possibly lower for short periods. Less intense snow activity will continue all week with some clearing on Tuesday and then again on Thursday before we settle into the next wave of snowfall.

As we close in on the New Year, colder temps will continue as the values there will be some of the coldest low temps recorded for NorCal since 2016 during this time frame as well as the coldest highs since 2010/11!!!!!! Snowfall for the week beyond the New Year is still in flux as the models are not agreeing completely but the low looks to track a bit south of us bringing light to modest snowfall for the forecast area during that time. The main concern is the injection of below normal temps associated with clearing and a not so robust snowfall because of it. This could change the other direction also so stay tuned!

Many laughed at my 400″ season prediction 2 months ago…..let’s hope it still rings true for the season! Stay tuned.

Pure Mtn Fun is our ethos so come on up and check us out.

We look forward to skiing and riding with all ya’ll very soon.

Cheers,
Mattly
