Jamestown, CA…On January 8, 2022 at approximately 5:30pm, a 36-year-old man from Modesto was driving a 2013 Hyundai sedan westbound on State Route 120, west of La Grange Road at a high rate of speed approaching the rear of a 2007 Subaru SUV that was being driven by 53-year-old Chunli Yao of Pleasanton. At that same time, 55-year-old Ronnie Henley of Waterford was driving his 1999 Ford pickup truck eastbound on State Route 120, west of La Grange Road. The 36-year-old man attempted to pass Mr. Yao, over the double yellow line directly in the path of Mr. Henley.

As a result, the front the Hyundai crashed into the front of the Ford Truck. After the impact, debris from the crash struck Mr. Yao’s vehicle. The 36-year-old driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene and Mr. Henley suffered serious injuries and was transported to Doctors Medical Center by ambulance for treatment. Mr. Yao was uninjured as a result of the crash. It is undetermined if alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this crash.

This crash remains under investigation and the identity of the deceased driver is being withheld pending notification to his family.
