Sonora Woman Arrested on Stolen Property & Trespassing Charges

Sonora, CA…Just after 5 A.M. on January 22nd, a Sergeant from the Sonora Police Department responded to a report of a burglary at a business in the 1000 block of Sanguinetti Rd. The reporting party that the store was closed to the public until 6 A.M. When the Sergeant arrived on scene, he saw employees escorting 41-year-old transient Sophia Tate out of the business. The Sergeant knew Tate from previous contacts and knew that she had been arrested hours before for being in possession of stolen property. The Sergeant placed Tate under arrest and retrieved stolen property that she was carrying from the business.

As a result of the investigation, the Sergeant learned that Tate had attempted to gain entry into the business from a side door, but was stopped by an employee. Tate then went to the front of the business and forced entry into the store. Tate was transported to the Tuolumne County Jail and was booked on a felony charge of burglary and a misdemeanor charge of trespassing. Tate’s bail was set at $20,000 and remains in custody.
