Ganns Meadow, CA…Fire personnel on the Calaveras Ranger District have been busy pile burning. The photos were taken while burning logging debris piles on the Cabbage Timber Sale located on Forest Road 7N09 in the Cabbage Patch area (between the communities of Ganns Meadow and Sky High).
Hazardous fuel loading reduction was successfully completed on approximately 300 acres. The area is currently closed to vehicles, but winter recreators may notice smoke in the area.
Common tools like pile burning is used as forest treatments. Piles include excess wood and dying or dead trees and shrubs. Pile burning is usually conducted in winter months to reduce the possibility of spread.
