Mountain Ranch, CA…NWS Sacramento has issued a flash flood warning for burn areas from the American, King, Butte & Rim Fire areas. Please use caution in these areas. Rainfall rates may exceed flash flood debris flow criteria with storms totals rainfall of 3 to 6 inches Anyone living or traveling on roads in the Butte fire area should be alert for probable road problems due to flooding, rock and debris flows. Large portions of the area have been serverly burned. These areas no longer absorb any rainfall, which can lead to enhanced runoff and possible debris flows. Precautionary preparedness actions for a flash flood watch for a burn area means that conditions, including the formation of thunderstorms, may develop that could generate heavy rainfall rates. Heavy rainfalls rates over recent burn areas could lead to flash floods, rockslides and or debris flows. Be prepared to take action.
