Sonora, CA…On Wednesday March 23rd at about 2:00 AM, Sgt. Cuellar was patrolling near Cavalieri Road in Sonora and noticed a vehicle backed into a turnout. Sgt. Cuellar contacted the occupants of the vehicle, 42-year-old Cesar Perez of Yuba City and 34-year-old Michelle Vass of Yuba City. Perez and Vass told deputies there was drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle. A record check of both occupants showed Vass was on Parole and Perez had warrants for his arrest.
Additional deputies arrived and had Perez and Vass exit the vehicle. Deputies searched Perez and found a methamphetamine pipe and two shaved car keys. Deputies searched the vehicle and found drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, a slim-Jim, credit cards, a driver’s license, and other personal identifying information which deputies were able to determine belonged to a victim of a recent vehicle burglary in Jackson. Deputies also recovered a purse, wallet, various personal identifying cards, and tax paperwork which deputies were able to determine belonged to victims of a recent vehicle burglary out of Fresno.
Vass and Perez were arrested by deputies. Perez was booked at the Dambacher Detention Center (DDC) on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools, and possession of stolen property. Vass was booked at the DDC on charges of possession of personal identifying information of another with intent to defraud, possession of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia, possession of stolen property and violation of parole.
