USFS Firefighters Make Quick Work of the 67 Acre Pine Fire

Groveland, CA…At approximately 4 p.m. Groveland Ranger District Fire Crews were dispatched to a fire on the forest near the Pines Campground. As of 9:22 p.m. last night, the fire was 100% contained and crews were released for the evening. The fire burned 67 acres. We have handlines around the entire perimeter and will have one dozer, two water tenders, two engines and one hand crew back in the area today for mop-up operations.’

Chris Vaughn of Groveland Ranger District Engine 342 and other crews continue to work mopping up the Pines Fire near the Pines Campground on the Groveland Ranger District.

The fire, which began late yesterday afternoon situated between the Pines Campground and the Smith Peak lookout consumed 67 acres. There were no injuries reported and no evacuations of the campground.
