Pursuit Leads Deputies to Drug Sales & Arrests

Sonora, CA…On Monday April 4th at about 1:20 in the morning a TCSO Deputy was patrolling on Highway 108 near Mill Villa Road in Jamestown. The deputy did a record check of the license plate of a Pontiac Vibe driving in front of him, and the license plate came back to a Dodge pickup truck. The deputy conducted a traffic stop at the 7-11 in Jamestown and contacted the male driver and female passenger. When the deputy went to the front of the vehicle to check the front plate, the vehicle accelerated onto Highway 108, attempting to flee.

The Deputy returned to his patrol car and pursued the vehicle with flashing lights through Jamestown’s Main Street. The fleeing vehicle crossed over the double yellow lines, ran stop signs, and drove at a high rate of speed. The fleeing vehicle turned into a narrow parking lot which dead-ended near the area of the Royal Carriage Inn, forcing the driver to stop. The driver backed up, and attempted to drive around the deputy’s vehicle, striking the patrol vehicle multiple times in the process of trying to go around. The female passenger of the vehicle fled on foot, while the driver turned back around and tried to drive over a dirt hill, getting his vehicle stuck. The driver exited his vehicle and ran. The driver, 32-year-old Ryan Wardwell was caught and arrested by the deputy a short distance away.

A record check of Wardwell showed he had 6 misdemeanor warrants and was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS). A record check of the vehicle showed it was reported as stolen out of Twain Harte.

Further investigation of evidence at the scene led deputies to a nearby hotel room to conduct a probation search. Deputies entered the hotel room where they detained 26-year-old Shea Green as he attempted to climb out of a bathroom window. A record check of Green found he had four felony warrants and six misdemeanor warrants. During the probation search deputies located approximately 83 grams of Fentanyl concealed in a false compartment of an aerosol can, 16 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 3 grams of methamphetamine, drug use paraphernalia, a digital scale and just under $1000 cash.

Wardwell was arrested and booked at the Dambacher Detention Center (DDC) on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, evading a peace officer with wanton disregard for safety, false vehicle registration and several misdemeanor warrants. Green was arrested and booked at the DDC for possession of a controlled substance for sale, keeping a place to sell controlled substances, using a false compartment to store a controlled substance, conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of drug paraphernalia and several felony and misdemeanor warrants.
