Prescribed Fire on Private Lands Workshop

Sonora, CA…Workshop to be offered in Sonora on April 22nd and 23rd, 2022. The Motherlode Prescribed Burn Association in collaboration with Columbia College, the Tuolumne and Calaveras Resource Conservation Districts and the University of California Cooperative Extension will be hosting a two-day workshop April 22nd and 23rd designed for landowners and land managers wanting to gain skills in prescribed fire planning and implementation.

Dates and times are:

April 22nd, 9-4 Columbia College, Sonora
April 23rd, 9-4 Location TBD (but nearby)

Day one of the workshop will include a tour of burn units at Columbia College, a review of different tools, equipment and personnel protective equipment, and participation in a burn if weather allows. Participants are encouraged to bring maps and other property information to be used to develop a burn plan customized to their property. Experts will be on hand to help landowners develop their project descriptions, maps, permitting and understand liability. This workshop can set you up to proceed with your burn plan!

Day two of the workshop will be held at a landowner’s property and include burn unit preparation, planning and burning if weather allows.
