Sonora, CA…On Thusday April 28th, at approximately 10:40 pm, TCFD, CAL FIRE TCU, and Sonora City Fire were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 20000 block of Shaws Flat Road in Sonora. On arrival firefighters found a residential structure approximately 50% involved. Efforts were quickly made to ensure all occupants were out of the home and aggressive offensive tactics were taken to prevent further fire spread. One adult male was treated at scene for burn injuries by firefighters and Tuolumne County Ambulance. The patient was transported to a local hospital and later flown to a trauma center for further treatment. Firefighters extracted one dog from inside the structure and attempted resuscitation efforts. We are saddened to report that despite our best of efforts, unfortunately the dog was unable to be resuscitated. Approximately 20% of the home and contents were salvaged. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
