Angels Camp, CA…On Thursday April 14th at around 4pm, deputies received a report of package theft. Deputies reviewed video surveillance in the area and saw a suspect driving a white sedan. It appeared the man was pretending to be a delivery person because he would stop in front of the intended victim’s home and approach carrying a package before stealing or swapping packages on the victim’s porch.
On Friday April 15th, a package theft was reported to Sonora Police Department @sonora_policedept . It appeared that the same suspect was involved. Deputies and Sonora PD worked together to identify the license plate of the vehicle by reviewing surveillance footage in the area. They discovered that the owner of the vehicle was out of Angels Camp. Deputies worked with Angeles Camp PD to find the suspect’s vehicle at the suspect’s home.
On Tuesday April 26th deputies executed a search warrant around Suzanne Drive in Angeles Camp. During the search, deputies were able to identify 12 potential victims of package theft after recovering multiple packages and property inside the suspect’s vehicle and residence. The suspect is known, and the case has been sent to the District Attorney for prosecution. Deputies are still in the process of the investigation which includes contacting and identifying victims and returning property.
