Jennifer Barr for Treasure Tax Collector

San Andreas, CA…Jennifer moved to Calaveras County in 1994 with her husband, who grew up here. They have been married for 26 years. Their family has deep roots here and have been in Calaveras County since the early 1900’s. She raised her children here and is active in the community, previously serving on the Calaveras Little League board and as an FFA Boosters board member. She is now enjoying watching her adult children continue to serve and grandchildren participate in youth sports and agricultural programs.

Initially Jennifer went to work for Calaveras County in 1995 for the Public Works Department where her exposure to California Revenue and Taxation Code and property taxes began. Her responsibilities included the accurate billing of the annual Solid Waste Fee through the county property tax system. She worked for Public Works for ten years implementing numerous recycling programs and authored several grants. After a short break she returned to work for Calaveras County performing the duties of property tax manager for ten years. Her extensive knowledge of the California tax code and its intricate workings resulted in new employment with a global company as a Subject Matter Expert/Technical Consultant implementing property tax software throughout the state. As part of a highly skilled team, Jennifer has implemented property tax software in Riverside, Inyo, and Mendocino Counties, and is currently working on several other projects throughout the state.

Jennifer has an associate degree in Criminal Justice and has taken numerous advanced classes in accounting and business. Her extensive knowledge, education and office management skills will make her the perfect fit as the Calaveras County Treasurer/Tax Collector. Jennifer will be proud to serve the community and conduct the business of Calaveras County in an efficient, effective, and friendly manner.
