“Studio 4 Dance Theater Performs at the Student Showcase and the Miss Calaveras Pageant”

Angels Camp, CA…Dancers from Studio 4 School of Dance showcased their dance talent and various dance styles at the recent Studio 4 Dance Theater Student Showcase 2022. Dance styles represented were jazz, contemporary, hip hop and ballet. Studio 4 School of Dance and Studio 4 Dance Theater (S4DT) have a long history in Calaveras County, starting 17 years ago when Tammie Lee first opened the doors.

Artistic Director Tammie Lee is happy to be able to provide dance instruction to Calaveras County dancers. The new addition of Sarah Long, as a dance instructor and choreographer, has allowed the studio to continue to offer a variety of classes including contemporary, jazz and hip hop.

The Student Showcase 2022 featured dance choreographers that include dance instructors and current dance students. This year’s performance was held in the music room at Ironstone Vineyards. Each performance boosted a full house of proud parents, guardians, grandparents and community members.

This year’s choreographers included director and instructor Tammie Lee and Sarah Long, dance teachers and former students Afton Phillips and Iris Stafford, and current student Ashely Hancock.

In true tradition, Studio 4 Dance Theater performed one of the Student Showcase 2022 numbers, “Club Can’t Handle Me,” during the Miss Calaveras Pageant at the Calaveras County Jumping Frog Jubilee in addition to participating in the Calaveras County Fair Youth Parade.

“I am so pleased that we were able to perform again this year at the pageant,” said Director Tammie Lee. “It is so important that the community knows we are still here and offering an opportunity for students to learn to dance. We have so many new dancers, I can’t wait to see what the future brings for Studio School of Dance and S4DT.”

The Student Showcase is made possible through parent volunteers and generous donations from the community. Donations came in various forms this year. Some were made directly to the dance theater, others donated items that comprised the raffle basket at the Student Showcase. Donors this year included: Stewardship West, Newsom Construction, Laurie Giannini and the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee, Janet Cuslidge and Furman Brown.
