Murphys, CA…Robert E Burns died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, December 28, 2015 after a short illness. He was born in Ventura, California on May 23, 1932. He moved to Murphy’s with his wife Barbara and his step-daughter Cheryl in 1955. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for SC Linebaugh as well as other local companies. He was a mechanic/bus driver for Calaveras Unified High School from 1964 until his retirement, fondly known by a generation of high school students from the Arnold area.

In his retirement he enjoyed fishing and square dancing.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Barbara in 2006. He leaves behind his daughter Diane (Dave) Baumann of Murphy’s, and his step daughter Cheryl (Alan) Murphy of The Dalles, Oregon, three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
