Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies Make Arrests in Burson

Burson, CA…On August 4, 2022, around 1240 hours Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Deputies contacted two subjects, a male and a female, associated with a sport utility vehicle that had expired registration at a gas station/market parking lot in Burson, CA. The vehicle was parked with its hood up and two people appeared to be working on the vehicle.

While speaking with the subjects, a store employee informed deputies that the female had allegedly shoplifted swim shoes. Through an interview, the theft was admitted, and the shoes were then located in the vehicle and subsequently returned to the store.

The female, Maria Aguilera (age 44) of Stockton, was arrested for outstanding warrants out of San Joaquin County. The male did not have a valid driver’s license. A tow truck was requested for the vehicle and a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 34 grams of methamphetamine, 326 grams of marijuana, 3 pipes commonly used to smoke controlled substances, prescription pills, and other items indicative of narcotics sales.

Maria Aguilera was arrested on additional charges related to the narcotics. The male was released at the scene and the vehicle was towed from the location.

Maria Aguilera was booked in to the Calaveras County Jail for the three San Joaquin County warrants as well as new charges of 11360(a)H&S-sales/transportation of marijuana, 11378H&S-possession for sale of controlled substance (methamphetamine), 4060B&P-possession of medication without a prescription, 11364(a)H&S-possession of controlled substance paraphernalia with $90,000 bail.

Subsequent to this contact, a subject who lives nearby the arrest location reported that the suspect’s vehicle, described as a gold or brown Chevy SUV, was seen possibly trespassing at a property nearby. An investigation in to that report is underway. No further information is available at this time.
