Bonsai Club Hosts Practical Workshop in San Andreas

San Andreas, CA… The public is invited to the Mother Lode Bonsai Club’s meeting and workshop on Saturday, September 10 at 10 a.m. The hands-on workshop will be conducted by club mentors as part of the club gathering at the San Andreas Central Library, 1299 Gold Hunter Road (off Mountain Ranch Road) in San Andreas. There is no charge for admission.

Former and current members are encouraged to bring a plant/tree, wire, tools and table covering for the workshop. Others should come with their questions to learn more about raising “trees in a pot.” This will be an opportunity to meet local bonsai community members, see firsthand how to raise miniature trees, and get information on different types of plants, recommended tools, preferred pots, soil materials and other basic supplies. A raffle is also planned to offer bonsai items.

“After we regrouped following a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, our club refocused our organization and decided to adopt a more casual, informal approach,” said Doug Lau, newly-elected club president. “The members voted on less structure and more time ‘getting our hands in the dirt’ instead. Our club’s goal is to educate others and expand the interest in this living art form.”

For more information on the Mother Lode Bonsai Club, contact Lau at (209) 588-8106, or dlauhale@gmail.com. Everyone is invited to attend club meetings, demonstrations and workshops regardless of their levels of experience in bonsai. Members come from Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne counties, as well as the San Joaquin Valley.
