San Andreas, CA… Adopt Me! I’m Marge! Meet Marge (AO55049), a female Pit bull. She’s about 5 years old, weighs 72 pounds, and is eligible for Calaveras County Animal Service’s “55-5” senior discount program. Details below.

Marge was initially scared and shut down when she entered the intensely busy and raucous shelter.

Once she moved to the quieter end, she relaxed. Our volunteers work hard to tailor each pet’s experience.

She is timid and needs someone who is patient and allows her to acclimate to new people and surroundings at her own pace. But she sure perks up when we ask if she wants to go on a walk. She feels her joy then and does a wiggle dance. She has very good leash manners and enjoys exploring. And who could resist that pretty spotted coat?

Marge tested well with both male and female dogs, greeting nicely, then ignoring them. She may be housebroken since she keeps a clean kennel.

Please note that Marge will need to be spayed so she may follow you home.

All dogs available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter are up-to-date on their routine vaccinations and will be microchipped. All unaltered cats and dogs must be spayed or neutered before they can go home with you.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!

When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
