Bear Valley, CA…Hey Good People! As the current system stalls slightly, snow shower activity will be present this morning before the bulk of the system decides to drop some greater totals come mid-day as compared to last nights push. 6″ of new snow has fallen between 3-6am this morning, about half of what was in the forecast for the overnight prediction but that is mainly due to the slowing down of the system in the last 24hrs which initially brought just over 1″ of rainfall to get things going. With the warm front exiting in the next few hrs we’ll see the temp drop significantly and snowfall should increase by 12pm or so. Winds will increase today and this evening as gradients tighten up a bit with 10-16″ snow slated to fall today, 9-13″ tonight, 14-20″ Tuesday, 8-12″ Tuesday night and then 2-4″ slated for Wednesday as the system makes its way East.
Now with that said, the totals above are certainly impressive. Let’s hope they pan out as early season base building is key for any resort on the West Coast for a sustainable long season (hint: a great set-up for spring skiing and its longevity). Remember, these early season storms can look impressive on the days ahead but show lesser face once upon us typically. The global pattern shift come December will give way to more confidence in these AR events and what they may produce.
As always, bring on the snow!
Uhlr is showing face so keep doing those snow dances.
Peace Out,
Mattly
