Sonora, CA…This afternoon at about 3 P.M., Deputy Leyva saw a Black KIA Soul driving westbound on Tuolumne Road. Deputy Leyva recognized the driver as being Gregory Meder, a 36 year old Jackson resident who is wanted on an outstanding felony warrant. Dep. Leyva initiated the traffic stop and Gregory Meder failed to yield. Meder drove into oncoming traffic, made a u turn and then continued driving approximately one mile east bound on Tuolumne road. Meder pulled into a driveway off of Tuolumne Road near Nugget Blvd and jumped out of the vehicle, attempting to flee. Dep. Leyva detained Meder and his two passengers at the scene until additional Patrol Units arrived.
Meder was taken into custody without incident. After further investigation, Deputies found a baggie containing approximately 5 grams of methamphetamine which Meder had thrown from the vehicle. Meder was booked at the Tuolumne County Jail on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of controlled substance paraphernalia and a felony warrant for receiving known stolen property and person prohibited to own or possess ammunition. Meder is being held on a bail amount of $27,500.
