Bear Valley, CA…Hey Good People! 7am update to the weather: 17″ of new snow has fallen since 10pm last night and it looks as though it’s just getting started. As the storm intensifies we could see up to 20″ fall between 5am today and 10pm this evening. Winds are playing a big factor with this system as we crested 51mph last night so transported snow will be an issue this morning for the Avalanche Control team.
The warm front is nearly past us and colder temps will arrive and drop the temp to around 24F by mid-morning or so. Winds will create travel and possible operational delays today so be ready for that as well as being prepared for the travel up and down the highway as limited visibility and heavy snowfall may create some impacts. Tonight the system may drop another 3-5″ of new snow if al the stars align before it heads East and we see some reprieve on Friday as it looks to be a partly sunny day before the next AR arrives come Saturday.
This is yet another warm to cold to warm to cold event which will give us as well as all other NorCal resorts a run for our money bringing potential operational and travel delays. Make good travel plans, slow your roll up the Hwy and heed weather and Caltrans reports for a better journey up to the resort.
Peace Out,
Mattly
