Caltrans Will Hold In-Person Public Meeting for Round About or Improved Signal for State Routes 4 and 49 Today in Calaveras County

Angels Camp, CA…The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will hold an in-person public meeting regarding an intersection control and roadway improvement project in Calaveras County. The in-person public meeting will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, February 8, 2023), at the Bret Harte Union High School Multipurpose Room at 323 South Main Street in Angels Camp.

Caltrans proposes to make intersection, roadway, pedestrian, and bicycle improvements and modify the intersection of State Route (SR-) 49 and SR-4 with either a roundabout or signalized intersection. The project would also improve the intersection of SR-49 and Francis Street with either a roundabout or signalized intersection.

The purpose of the in-person public meeting is to update the community on the project’s progress and to obtain public comments on the project and the Draft Environmental Document. For more project information, click here: tinyurl.com/mw4hyppm.

Anyone who can’t attend the in-person public meeting can submit comments in writing to Jonathan Coley, Senior Environmental Scientist Supervisor, District 10 Environmental Compliance, California Department of Transportation,1976 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Stockton, CA 95205, or email jonthan.coley@dot.ca.gov. Comments must be received by February 24, 2023.

After considering all comments received, Caltrans will continue with the project’s environmental process and design.
