Hey Good People! Powmaggedon 4.0 is in Effect! Up to 100 Inches of Powder By Saturday!

Bear Valley, CA…Hey Good People! 5″ of new snow has fallen overnight as the storm keeps delivering! We have 69″ for the storm total so far, 165″ on the deck at our base area and 419″ for the season. Today 6-10″ of lite density snow should fall with another 7-11″ tonight! Temps today will be around 21F with the wind chair value coming in around -2F as winds look to crank up into the upper teens into the mid 20’s with gusting ramping up into the mid to upper 30’s. Winds will redeposit snow today as well as over the next handful of days so snow volume will vary throughout the resort because of it. Now, let’s talk totals for the next 4 days……….

A very brief lull is possible later today and tonight, then a couple of strong winter storms systems are expected to affect the area beginning very early Monday morning and continuing through Tuesday night.

Snow levels will be lower, generally 1-2kft. A strong storm will bring dangerous to near impossible mountain travel on Monday and Tuesday with 3-7ft of snow expected along with gusty winds to 60 mph or higher resulting in zero visibility in blowing snow. This is a cold system with high ratio, 1:18 at times. Very high snow rates are possible, 3+ inches an hour Monday through Tuesday. Below are the current forecast totals:
Sunday 6-10″
Sunday night 7-11″
Monday 17-23″
Monday night 13-19″
Tuesday 15-21″
Tuesday night 15-21″
Wednesday Heavy Snow
Thursday Sunny and cold
Saturday Snow likely
Winds will also crank up into the 60mph range Monday night and continuing into Wednesday morning albeit lessening a bit. So, having stated that, delays and possible closures may take place due to the severity of high snow totals and high winds.
As always, Mtn Operations will be out during these times mitigating the Avalanche Control work, Grooming and digging out the resort. Check our social media updates through out the day for any changes in conditions and operational challanges.
Always check Caltrans before heading up for road conditions for safe travel.
Peace Out
Mattly
